Creating ISO on Mac Os Leopard (CD Backup)

Author:

Creating iso on mac os is easy to do. With simple step we can backup our CD/DVD into *.iso file and used as primary backup in case our original CD/DVD is scratched and can’t read anymore.

In this case, i’ll try to backup CD/DVD original application bundled shipped with Mac Book Pro.

There’s 2 way to make an iso,

1. Using Disk Utility

2. Using Terminal command

i prefer using 2nd method instead of 1st method, cause of lot of problem occured using disk utility.

The steps are :

1. Open Terminal

2. Insert CD/DVD into drive

3. Invoke command

drutil status

4. From step 3 we can see the drive , i.e /dev/disk2

5. Invoke the following command to start making ISO

 dd if=/dev/disk2 of=<filename>.iso

6. Wait till process finished

7. Mount the iso to verify the content using finder and DiskMounter
